Boarding

With a School that has built its reputation on having a 'homely' atmosphere, high standards in the Boarding House are essential. We see this area as the 'heart' of the School. Boarding starts at 6 or 7 years, depending on the maturity of the child and whether or not they have an older member of the family in the Boarding House already. We believe that the happiness of the child must come first and can honestly say that our children are contented.

Much has been done recently to ensure that the physical environment of the Boarding House is of top quality. Refurbishment is a continual process and attention has been paid to such detail as an interlinked Fire Alarm System - for the safety of everyone.

Accommodation is of dormitory style with, depending on age, from 3 to 7 students per dormitory. The boarders have their own Common Room with Television, Video and Music facilities, as well as comfortable furnishing. In addition to this, there is a Computer Suite, Library, Flipper Football Machine, Snooker and Pool Tables, as well as many other games available to them. Our statement 'Consideration for Others' still dominates the atmosphere in the Boarding House.

We do our utmost to ensure that our boarders live a healthy and interesting life, and have much available to them in terms of Extra-Curricular Activities. Older pupils have two supervised Prep (Homework) sessions per night, while the young ones have one session. Set bed-times assure that each child has sufficient rest. Our staff are always firm, but friendly, and enjoy an excellent working relationship with the children.

Weekends are when we try to do as much for the children as their parents would. Videos are brought in on a Friday and Saturday night. Pocket money is given out on Saturday morning, with a close check being kept on the many educational visits (e.g. St. Fagan's Folk Museum) that they are taken on.

With the leisure facilities that are available in Pembrokeshire, this could be literally anywhere in the county, though shopping-trips to Carmarthen, Swansea and Cardiff are also popular.

The health of our boarders is monitored by our own Matron who lives on site. Full boarders will be registered with our local doctor. A close link is kept with parents at all times. The students have their own telephone, so that calls can be made both into and out of the Boarding House. Once per half term, the whole boarding community has an Exeat Weekend.
