Netherwood plans to have just one or two International Students from ten or so countries. Each student will study the basic subjects available on the Curriculum and will also have regular lessons in English as a Foreign Language up to G.C.S.E. level. Our teachers of 'English as a Foreign Language' are both highly qualified and widely experienced. Small numbers of pupils from each country ensures that conversations have to be through the medium of English - so there is plenty of opportunity to practice the spoken language. Extra lessons in Basic English, taken by a SENCO teacher, help to support the written aspects of the language - so that examination questions can be clearly understood.

The School is registered as an examination centre for P.E.T. and First Certificate examinations with both the Oxford and Cambridge Boards. The new JETSET examinations are also being considered. Again the examination pass-rate in this area is expected to be around 100%.

International Sixth Formers will be expected to have a high standard of English at the time of entry to Netherwood. However, they are also able to take an additional course in EFL, if they wish. The International Package for pupils of pre-Sixth Form age will include G.C.S.E. Studies, EFL, Basic English, Accommodation, Food, Laundry and Welfare Costs. The School will arrange Airport Transfers and Holiday Homestays, for which there will be a reasonable charge. If EFL is required at Sixth Form Level, it can be added to the basic charge.
